concerning stuff...and things...

10/18/07 01:13 pm - Lonely times last weekend

Spent last weekend home alone. H and P went down to Florida to visit the grandparents, leaving me to play video games and ponder the secrets of the universe.

On the gaming front, I made some good progress on Twilight Princess. I put in 5 hours, though 2 hours were lost due to a glitch I found in the game. view glitch details... ) Long story short, I had a lot of fun. But it was a pretty lonely weekend.

10/6/05 11:51 am - What's new...

Some of you may be wondering, "I wonder what's new with that guy that writes on livejournal (what's his name again?)". May answer is, "Hey! It's me! And here's what's new:"

Bought a car yesterday. It's a 1998 Green VW Golf 5-speed, 4-door hatchback. It's cool like gravy - not the fresh piping-hot gravy, but the kind that's been on your food for a little while so it had time to cool down - and my girl likes it too.

I'm playing my drums at the Topsfield Fair, today. The choir I play for sings there every year. It's kinda fun, even if it is "old-people music".

We're going out with the McBeans this Friday night for dinner and a movie. We're seeing "Proof", which is based on one of my favorite plays about crackpot mathematicians and the people who love them. I hope I like the film as much as the play.

This weekend I have three days off because of Columbus Day. I plan on spending it hanging out with my girl, the roomie, and of course one of my coding projects. My current coding project is blah, blah, blah... ) It should be fun.

Time to go grab a bite to eat. I HUNGER!

8/29/05 08:12 am - The long and winding road...

...that leads through my weekend...

I had a very long weekend. I swear it was four days instead of two. I didn't get enough sleep and I didn't set aside enough time for myself. Oh well. Next weekend, perhaps. For those interested, my weekend consisted of the following activities:
  • Folding laundry

  • Helping my sister move

  • Folding laundry

  • Attending a wonderful play entitled Plum Pudding at GSC

  • Folding laundry

  • Hanging out with Theman while...

  • ...folding laundry

  • Going to church

  • Folding laundry

  • Going to my nieces' birthday party and

  • Folding laundry

  • There was a lot of laundry. It's mostly folded now, though. I am having coffee poured directly into my blood stream as we speak. That should get me through the day.

I did manage to get an hour of time in on the Game Cube to play The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. I vanquished Ganondorf, with Zelda's help of course. The ending was bitter-sweet. Hyrule is lost forever, but the world is once again safe from evil. It's so sad, yet so hopeful.

I am starting over again to play through faster and finding all the items. It should be fun.

    8/26/05 10:53 am - It's Friday...

    ...I'm in Love!

But you already knew that. It is Friday, though. That means the weekend is almost upon us. And that means it's time to schedule lots of crap to do so I don't have any free time over the weekend. Here is the list so far:

    Saturday
  • Help my sister move in the AM

  • Go see a show at GSC with my girl in the PM

  • Sunday
  • The nieces have their birthday party

  • Sometime
  • Find time to hang with Theman

  • Find time to hang with McSkibby and Leeder

  • Find time for the Game Cube

  • Work on various projects, of which there are far too many

  • The sometime stuff will probably be blown off until someday, for one reason or another. And, as we all know, someday is not a day of the week. But I'll probably find time to hang with people tonight. Honestly, I think people have unrealistic expectations when it comes to weekends. They're no less busy than any time of your life, just less structured and therefore more stressful. Well, stressful if you worry about that kind of thing. Personally, I try to follow two simple rules when it comes to stress:

    1. "Don't sweat the small stuff."

    2. "It's all small stuff."

There are exceptions to rule 2, but not very many. Anyhow, look out, weekend! HERE I COME!

8/22/05 03:31 pm - Monday again and it feels like it never ends...

Another Monday. Not much going on today: just work, work, work.

I got to babysit my God-daughter, Sofija yesterday. She's such a cutie! She's only a few months old, but she's getting big quick. Before you know it, she'll be bigger than her mother! Not that it's hard to be bigger than her mother, but she's growing quite fast.

I spent half the weekend fighting off a cold. If only fighting off a cold was like playing a video game, I'd feel well 24/7/52 - that's right, 52: the number of weeks in a year - because 24/7/365 is STUPID! 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 52 weeks per year. It's beauty in form and function! Some may argue, "but there are 52.2 weeks per year, not 52," to which I reply, "there are 365.24 days per year, not 365." I refuse to compromise for the purpose of comformity when the norm is nonsense.

On the other hand, I still prefer inches and feet to the metric system. Why you ask? My answer is simply this: I'm stubborn. Deal.

8/19/05 03:56 pm - The end of the week...

Another weekend is just around the corner. I'm not sure what my plans are except that I'm going to watch my god-daughter, Sofija, all day on Sunday. It should be fun. She's a cutie.

Incidentally, the ice cream that was supposed to happen yesterday happened today because the truck people hadd the day wrong. Oh well.

Oh, and I was sick last night, but I'm just about well now. GO IMMUNE SYSTEM!!!

    8/13/05 03:38 pm - Last Night: A Post Mortem

Last night was actually a lot of fun. Theman came over and we played Mario Party 6 on the Game Cube with McSkibby and Leeder. We didn't finish because it got so late it was early. Maybe we can finish the game another time.

Played some Metroid Prime today. I finally ran into a Metroid after 6 hours of game time. I even got to blast some Space Pirate ass. Space Pirates are jerks.

It's hot today. I think I'll go boil my insides, now.

    8/12/05 05:49 pm - Unextraordinality

Just another Friday night. Nothing special going on. Going to hang out with Theman tonight, if he ever answers the phone. It has been a long week and I'm tired. Maybe we'll stop by China Jade for drinks. I could definitely use a Fogcutter, right now.

The weather sucks. I'm not too picky about weather. I just can't stand the in-betweens like when it's cold but not snowing, or when it's sunny but not warm, or when it's cloudy but not raining - like today.

    My Plans This Weekend
  • Explore some islands as Link in "The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker"

  • Blast some aliens as Samus in "Metroid Prime"

  • Maybe go out on Theman's jet ski - weather permitting - and if he can borrow a car

  • Spend some time thrashing myself at the local skatepark

  • Smooth the edges of my fresh-cut longboard deck

  • Rip my CD collection to my MP3 player - Relient K's calling me
  • Powered by LiveJournal.com
